Believe in The Power of AMERICAN GODS Fan Art

American Gods is a story about the power of belief, and to a lesser extent, what people will do in the name of belief. The acts of worshippers can give the New and Old Gods strength and power. I wonder what effect fan art inspired by the gods would have. I guess I’ll find out after this week’s Fan Art Friday, which is all about American Gods.

Let’s start our tributes with a look at John Harman’s work. He’s a vector illustrator and has created stylized portraits of the likes of Shadow Moon and some of the Old Gods. Look at his vector line illustration of Mr. Wednesday:

He did the lines using Adobe Illustrator and jumped to Illustrator CC to finish the colors and effects. See John’s take on Mr. Nancy and others in the gallery below and visit his portfolio on Behance to see all his American Gods art.

I love how fierce Czernobog looks in this art by Samantha:

Robert Gillett tackled everyone’s favorite leprechaun, Mad Sweeney.

This portrait of Mr. Jacquel/Anubis and Mrs. Fadil by Monika is stunning.

It’s vastly different from the first Mr. Wednesday illustration, but I’m into this more storybook style from Tumblr user elkilg:

Do you create any sort of fan art? If so, I want to see it. Whether you focus on a specific fandom or pull inspiration from multiple stories and mediums, I’d like to highlight what you do. If you’re interested in being featured in a future edition of Fan Art Friday, get in touch with me at [email protected] with examples of your work. If you’re not an artist, feel free to email me with recommendations for Fan Art Friday!
