AMC’s FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Offers First Teaser Promo

The Walking Dead has dominated television for five years now, and will continuing with it’s sixth season starting this October. Before we dive back into the craziness surrounding Rick, Daryl and the rest of the Georgia survivors, AMC will be bringing us the spin-off series headed by comic series creator Robert Kirkman, Fear The Walking Dead. We haven’t been given too much in the way of details about the show, other than having it set in Los Angeles and following a small group right after the initial outbreak of zombies. Now AMC has brought us a 30-second promo video for the new series titled “Nick’s escape.”

The series will apparently follow the story of a high school teacher, the guidance councilor of his school, and her two children. From the video we can assume Nick is the guidance councilor’s son. The too-small-looking sweater he is wearing, combined with the fact that he’s having to hold his pants up while he runs, leads me to believe Nick was looking for a little alone time with someone special, and it didn’t really go how he planned.

The promo calls to mind the opening scene of the film 28 Weeks Later in which the character Don also escapes from a house that is being over run with infected and then making a run for it to save himself. With the homage the pilot episode of The Walking Dead pays to 28 Days Later, this promo feels to solidify the respect Kirkman has for the other franchise. Be sure to keep an eye out at San Diego Comic Con for Fear The Walking Dead, and the series will premiere on AMC in August.
