Watch Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Dance to Every Song Ever

Back in high school, then-future-U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez danced in a music video she made with friends. For whatever reason, Republicans tried to use the snippet to launch a smear campaign against Ocasio-Cortez, whose liberal socialism and youth (she’s the youngest woman to ever serve in Congress) have made her a target for those on the far right. But Ocasio-Cortez honed her Millennial superpowers and snapped back at her opponents in a video tweet, showing that even politicians can boogie.

Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t the only one striking out at the people condemning a teenage girl for dancing and having fun. Twitter user @AOC_Dances quickly turned the original video – which was set to Edwin Starr’s “War” – into a meme, where other songs are played over the footage. The results are simply incredible.

Here are some of our favorites:

“Toxic” by Britney Spears

“Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham!

“Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show

“It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones

“Africa” by Toto

“Mambo No. 5” by Lou Bega

The account also started taking submissions from other Twitter users.

“Overworld Theme” from Super Mario Bros.

“Rock Lobster” by the B-52s

“The Chicken Dance” by Werner Thomas

But our favorite has to be this gem: Drowning Pool’s “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor.”

You can see the full and ever-growing collection of videos here at @AOC_Dances.
