Alamo Drafthouse 20th Anniversary Continues With the Original ROBOCOP (Exclusive)

Two decades ago, the Alamo Drafthouse charted a new path for movie theaters. And as part of the year-long Alamo Drafthouse 20th Anniversary party, the original RoboCop, Peter Weller, is coming to Dallas to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his iconic film!

On September 10, Weller will return to OCP Headquarters (a.k.a. Dallas City Hall) for Alamo20’s special live-screening of RoboCop. But you don’t have to make the trip all the way out to Dallas. Alamo Drafthouse locations from across the country will be remotely streaming the RoboCop event and participate with the live Q&A session.

Other upcoming Alamo20 events include Mark Polonia’s double feature of “trash horror madness” on October 17. And for a two-night event on November 18 & 19, Alamo Drafthouse has lined up Hollywood royalty, William Friedkin and Sherry Lansing, to attend a celebration their legendary careers. As part of that event, Friedkin will introduce and screen his favorite film by Lansing, while she will do the same for one of his films on the other night.

Additionally, Swedish actress Christina Lindberg will make a special appearance on November 11, at the Alamo20’s US premiere for the 4K restoration of her signature exploitation film: Thriller (They Call Her One-Eye).

But if you’re really adventurous, perhaps you’ll try the revival of Alamo Drafthouse’s Ultimate Garlic Experience. On September 1, all of the Alamo theaters will be screening Les Blank’s documentary, Garlic Is As Good As Ten Mothers, alongside a four-course that pays tribute to “the beauty of the stinking rose.” As a bonus, it will probably kill all vampires within a ten mile radius.
