Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman Preview the New MYTHBUSTERS Season

Hey guys, guess what? As of this Saturday, MythBusters is back on Discovery for a whole new season of awesomeness! Excited? Of course you are. But, here’s the thing: a lot’s changed for the show since last we left the dynamic duo of San Francisco. In addition to the departure of co-hosts Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara, it was recently revealed that the series was going to be undergoing a slight format change in terms of look and style – most notability in the department that concerns the display of what Adam and Jamie actually do.

With days to go before the series premiere, the team has finally unveiled the updated look in a new video that also shows off brand new opening credits.

Yup, that’s what we’re looking for.

This does actually address something the series has always lacked: a way to get viewers interested in the nitty gritty of what the team builds from episode to episode and how they do it. By adding these on-screen pop-up facts, the production team has found a way to thoroughly explain much of the on-screen antics without cutting into the actual narrative of a given myth.

Mythbusters premieres this Saturday, January 10 at 9/8c on Discovery.

What do you think of the new and improved MythBusters? Let us know in the comments below.

    Screwed up!  Won’t watch again!

  2. Jim says:

I love the new format of the show.  I like seeing the work going into the myth.  I just wish the season was longer.

  3. Mell b says:

I think the show is better in the new format (similar to the original format) with out the side kicks. They over acted for the cameras and I appreciate the emphasis being targeted back to science and Jamie and Adam are really entertaining enough.

  4. Elizabeth43 says:

Have any of you though about how relieved I’ll bet Kari is now that she isn’t going to have to work with dead pig carcass anymore?

  5. Jay says:

wah i’m on a site called nerdist and i care more about the people they let go that werent even originally part of the show, than them actually showing more of the science behind the art of the build… (sarcasm)

  6. NachoKingP says:

……no.  Discovery apparently hates making fans happy because all they do is kill things people love.  Whomever runs that network should have the entire executive team fired.

Why are all the measurements in archaic imperial?  Surely the Mythbusters do enough science that they work in metric?

    • Ben S says:

Yes, but remember that their audience is the average American, ie. stupid. Though, for some units, imperial is more precise than metric: a one degree change in Fahrenheit in smaller compared to one degree change in Celsius.

      • Morgen says:

Ben, this is the most arbitrary load of shit. I really hope you’re not from America because you’d be supporting your first claim. One unit cannot be more precise than another. Precision refers to the measurement taken. Precision would be the ability to measure a 100th of a degree centigrade rather than a 10th of a degree. Perhaps the integer values of a unit system are more resolved but they are not more precise. Get your facts straight before stereotyping a nation of people.

  8. Doug Nelson says:

    Most expensive shark jump ever.

  9. Sietske says:

I only hope they switch all the measurements to the metric system for the European market (they use a different voice over, so here’s hoping they’ll change this as well), but otherwise it looks great!

  10. jm5150 says:

Looks amazing, I can’t wait!. I only can now hope discovery is planning a new show for Tory Kari and Grant in the same fashion. I love them all and I’m still not over their departure

  11. anonymous says:

They didn’t have Grant, Kari or Tory until after the show started and they were just in the build crew.  Don’t hate them because the network made the decision to let them go.  These guys still do amazing things!

  12. anonymous says:

No Grant. No Kari. No Tory. No thank you.
