GAME OF THRONES, LOTR, and X-MEN Actors Join Cast of QUANTUM BREAK

Despite the fact that it was revealed over two years ago, we’re still waiting on Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming third person shooter Quantum Break and the live-action television show that goes along with it. While the developer decided to skip E3 this year, they’ve shown up to Gamescom to not only reveal an official release date, but to also release a brand new trailer (above) showcasing a bit more gameplay, the story and the actors who’ll be playing the characters both in the game and the television show.

Headlining the cast as protagonist Jack Joyce is Shawn Ashmore (X-Men). He’ll be joined by Lord of the Rings and LOST actor Dominic Monaghan, Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen, and The Wire‘s Lance Reddick, who will be portraying the roles of William Joyce, Paul Serene, and Martin Hatch respectively.

As of right now, we know that Jack Joyce will be pitted against his former friend and the antagonist of the show Paul Serene. Though you’ll play as Jack the majority of the time, there will be sections at the end of each episode where you’ll switch to the antagonist and make a choice that will affect the story. Director Sam Lake refers to these as “junction moments.” You’ll be able to see the repercussions of your decision immediately via an episode from the show which unlocks as soon as you make the choice.

Since there will be alternate episodes per decision, it adds a lot of replay value to the game. Though the episodes will vary in length depending on the decision that preceded them, they will all roughly be about 22 minutes long according to Lake. All in all, it sounds like a pretty cool idea if they can pull it off
