Aaron Rodgers, Reggie Watts, More: The Week In Podcasts

What did I tell you last week? Okay, we found out it was happening after I initially posted last Sunday’s Nerdist Podcast Network preview, but before that day was out, I was hinting that we had a surprise for you. And we did, a big one:

Aaron Rodgers‘ appearance on You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes made headlines — I even saw Good Morning America talking about it! — for Aaron’s story about seeing a UFO in New Jersey, and some of the articles mentioned Pete’s question about masturbation, but the episode had a LOT more worth hearing, including talk about religion and reincarnation and the idea that there’s more going on than what we know, in many ways. This one’s far from being for football fans only, and it’s far from just the UFO story. Do not miss it.

Also not to be missed is Reggie Watts‘ return to the Nerdist Podcast. It’s as eclectic and funny as Reggie himself, from singing with BB-8 to pot stories and improv, plus science and technology, LCD Soundsystem, and singing. If you’re not yet a fan of Reggie’s, you will be after this one.

And you might just get a bonus Nerdist Podcast at some point Friday or over the weekend, so heads up.

Jonah’s old Grantland co-hort Jonathan Abrams has a new book “Boys Among Men: How the Prep-to-Pro Generation Redefined the NBA and Sparked a Basketball Revolution,” and he visited The Jonah Keri Podcast to talk about the revolution wrought by the players who came directly from high school to change the NBA and related issues like the D-League, the perception of the NBA as a lottery ticket, and more. And, yes, they did some more Grantland post-mortem.

And so much more, like ukulele-playing Internet sensation Molly Lewis on The JV Club, or our old magic pal Justin Willman on Love, Alexi. Kevin and Steve offered a peek into the mind of guys on Chewin’ It, while Cash and T.J. returned for more whatever-it-is-that-they-do on Cashing In with T.J. Miller, Alex did some exercisin’ on Half Hour Happy Hour, and Jackie and Laurie talked about experiences at the fabled Comedy Cellar and more unfiltered comedy trade stuff on The Jackie and Laurie Show.

But wait, there’s more, including the insanely talented WorkJuice Players stalwart Craig Cackowski joining the Pop My Culture discussion, and actress Jaime King helping Dan and Razzle sling the facts on Today We Learned. Pasadena’s White Horse Lounge brought the food and Jacob Sirof helped Doug and Karen eat it on Dining with Doug and Karen, and Supergirl showrunner Ali Adler continued the string of high-powered Hollywood writers sitting in for The Writers Panel.

Add: Jenna and Bodhi continued last week’s marriage drama on Kicking and Screaming, and Gil talked to reporter Adam Popescu about his career on The Mutant Season. John Matta, TV writer and creator of the Matta Napkin, was a particularly good interview for Tom on Pro You, and Jess and Bowser returned with more spooky (and, this time, intimate) stuff on Bizarre States. Blake Wexler returned for the first time since the show moved to the Barn on The Todd Glass Show, and Eddie unpacked on the last Season 1 episode of Will You Accept This Rose? (it WILL be back in May to cover The Bachelorette.

THAT is a great week. You wanna hear it all? Yes, of course you do. So go to the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage and Facebook page and subscribe to everything, and you’ll get what we got, which is a lot. And you won’t miss any more surprises like Aaron Rodgers making headlines. You never know when we’ll hit you with more like that.
