A ZOOLANDER Sequel Might Still Happen According to Ben Stiller

Prepare to break out your “Blue Steel” yet again as one of this millennium’s most enduring comedies Zoolander might have a sequel coming. While being honored at Sicily’s Taormina Film Festival, Ben Stiller opened the floor during a Q&A for film students and aficionados, which, of course, led to the inquiry of Derek Zoolander ever returning to the big screen. Stiller then gave some real hope to all in attendance and all of us reading now as he said that an existing script for a sequel is “actively” getting a rewrite at Red Hour Films.

Even after 13 years, Zoolander is still quoted by fans and when Stiller flashes Blue Steel (or La Tigra for that matter), crowds cheer. The desire to do a sequel would probably be mutual with the Zoolander faithful and Stiller, but it won’t be as easy to get the ball rolling past a script. Red Hour Films is Ben Stiller’s company that has made huge strides in the last few years and kept his “plate” more than full. They’re responsible for the hit web series Burning Love that went on to be a full fledged TV series on E! and trying to produce more digital content that will catch on the same way.

Also, if you remember, Owen Wilson played Zoolander’s model brother-in-arms Hansel and Wilson has been plenty busy since 2001 as well. What’s to happen with Will Ferrell’s fashion super villain Mugatu? Will there be another cameo from David Bowie or some other ridiculous cameos that would equal the ones by Paris Hilton, Billy Zane, etc.?

All of this and more has to be locked down before moving back to check the progress of The Derek Zoolander School for Kids Who Can’t Read Good and Want to Do Other Stuff Good Too.

Hoping that the sequel happens in the not so distant future, what would the name of a new “look” by Derek Zoolander? Let us know in the comments below.
