They have names. They are very talented actors. And they are done answering to âthat guy from that thing.â These are the character actors of Hollywood, and they want you to understand that they are people too.
You probably recognize the actors in this video. Thrilling Adventure Hourâs own Marc Evan Jackson, Buffy the Vampire Slayerâs Anthony Stewart Head, Rob Corddry, Rob Huebel, Matt Walsh, Donald Faison, Doug Jones, David Costabile, Donal Logue, and Silas Weir Mitchell. They are the unsung heroes of Hollywood – a fact they want you to remember. The guys who make you sit up during another hour of Monday night sitcoms and say, âHey, I know that guy!â …but you really should actually learn their names.
They make you laugh. They make you cry. And they help you connect to the story that you tuned in to watch week after week. Entertainment Weekly brought these great actors together at San Diego Comic Con this year so they could get their message to you, the viewers who are seeing them every week.
Weâre big fans of these guys here at Nerdist. Our own Marc Evan Jackson appears monthly in the Thrilling Adventure Hour live podcast both here in Los Angeles and when the podcast travels around the country. He’s also made memorable appearances in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Workaholics, Parks and Recreation, and 2 Broke Girls to name a very few.Â
Hereâs to all the character actors youâve been vaguely remembering for the last few years – the faces in the birthday scene, the new boyfriend, the sassy assistant, and the best friend you never met before this episode. Learn their names. Youâll keep seeing them. They do great work. Thanks for reminding us Entertainment Weekly.

7 out of 8 times I spot Doug Jones by his flowy hands, one of the most distinct features on any actor I’ve seen.
Doug Jones is my favorite actor so this was amazing
why is donald faison and anthony stewart head in this psa? everyone DOES know them by name! or is that just me?
Uhhh. It’s Sparks Nevada!
Although the book is somewhat outdated, the concept isn’t: “Hey! It’s That Guy!” by Tara Ariano and Adam Sternbergh.
Good article, though.
Yeah, wasn’t it from TWOP?
I love Donal Logue!
Remember him as Mike the Cab Driver? Love.
