A New Look at Netflix’s LOVE Starring Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust

A new series created by Judd Apatow, Lesley Arfin (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Paul Rust (Arrested Development) is coming to Netflix and posits that love ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. Love will follow Mickey and Gus played by Gillian Jacobs (Community) and Paul Rust, two people in their early 30s (we’re guessing) as they navigate the dating world.

With almost anything Apatow is involved with, we’re sure we can expect a raw and real look at modern dating. We doubt any punches will be pulled when it comes to the uncomfortable aspects of relationships both new and old. The trailer shows us how Gus and Mickey find each other in what most movies and television would consider a “meet cute” but it becomes abundantly clear that this is more of a “meet awkward” at best.

The two characters are both fresh out of respective relationships and undoubtedly annoyed with the world, Jacobs’ “Mickey” appears to be acerbic and on-guard while Rust’s “Gus” seems fed-up and defeated. The pair’s performances in the trailer perfectly capture the awkwardness of meeting someone new when you’re not entirely ready to. They seem to hit that sweet spot of two people forcing conversation after a breakup where conversations just seem to be venting sessions about your ex. Love seems ideal for anyone who has ever been through a break-up or lives for the awkwardness of real life.

All episodes of Love go live on Netflix February 19th which is oh-so-perfect timing for the weekend after Valentines day.
