A New “Dark Knight Rises” Trailer Surfaces

So, we have a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, featuring Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, collapsing football fields, and guys in orange prison jumpsuits as all Heck breaks loose. There was a longer six-minute “prologue” that preceded IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol this weekend, but this one’s the one that’s now in general circulation.

You like? Or meh? Comments welcome. And the movie opens on July 20, 2012, in case you want to stick it on your calendar.

  1. Deeznuts says:

    Absolute goosebumps

  2. @Dean I don’t think people are writing off the movie as much as they’re critiquing the trailer. I wanted to see the movie before and I certainly still plan on it, but that trailer did nothing for me. It didn’t pique my interest in the slightest, which is kind of the point of a trailer.

That being said: WOO BATMAN! And WOO Michael Caine, who’s always a winner in my book.

  3. Three Toes of Fury says:

AHHHH!!! We have to wait till July?!! AHHHH!!

Normally i try to avoid trailers and spoilers but im too stoked for this flick to wait…saw the 6m prologue and the trailer multiple times. Looks fantastic. When it was originally announced that Ledger would be the Joker in Dark Knight there was ALOT of questioning that choice. When i heard about Bane for this one i did the same thing. The trailer/prologue put doubts to rest…Hardy’s Bane is confident, evil, and a ruthless planner. My prediction for 2012 is that Avengers will be good to very good….Batman will be untouchable.

  4. Pat T says:

Kyle: only CGI I saw was the blowing up of the football field. Oh and to people worried about Bane’s voice, Nolan has said that they’re working on cleaning that up. So don’t fret.

  5. Kyle Anderson says:

A bit more CGI than I was expecting, but what can ya do?

  6. Tad Stones says:

I’m very interested in the movie but the trailer didn’t amp my expectations. It reminded me that Nolan tries to be as realistic as possible. The fact that they’re labeling this as the end of the story opens the storyline to all sorts of cool possibilities.

  7. Gabriel says:

I am very excited to see this. I think we will be seeing something special. From the very short shot of dialog I think that Catwoman is going to be socially conscious villian using her takings to help the downtrodden.
I’m not sure what Bane’s arc is going to be but he is impressive looking.
It looks like Bane is going to cripple Batman in the first 10 to 15 minutes of the movie and then we will have a recovery portion for the mid portion of the movie. I worry that they will have to hurry the recovery to make it work.
That would explain Alfred’s self reproach for not protecting Bruce. Also the shot of Bruce with the beard and the worn clothes.
Could the collapsing football field be built on the ruins of the old deystroyed Wayne Manor? Is that a scene showing the public exposure of the bat cave?
I think the best possible ending of this movie will be the death of the Batman. A heroic death stoping Bane. It would be a perfect story arc over three films.
People would still be talking about it in 100 years.

  8. Dean says:

I wish I had the precognitive talents required to write off a film off based on two minutes of almost completely contextless shots.

  9. Dean says:

People writing a film off based on two minutes of completely contextless shots – what a world we live in.

  10. Brian says:

For people that saw the prologue: you didn’t think it was bizarre that you couldn’t hear/understand a single thing Bane said?

  11. Jake says:

You know guys, you are quite right, Bane is pretty smart, I was totally thinking of the stupid movie Bane from Batman & Robin.

  12. Josieberry says:

…This trailer made me lose all the interest I had in this movie. Anne Hathaway is no Selina Kyle, and this trailer proves that. And Football? In Batman?! Oh Nolan… please, please, PLEASE deliver.

  13. Is it sort of gay that The Dark Knight Rises is the only Nolan Batman movie I really want to see? (mainly for Anne Hathaway, too…)

  14. Livius says:

I thought it was a good trailer. Not the best but good.

@Jake: Bane is a genius I think he fits well.

  15. John says:

    @Jake

    Bane is not what?!

Bane is a brilliant tactical mind. Batman & Robin is not a flattering depiction of the character from the books.

  16. Jake says:

I saw this when I went to the new Sherlock movie. It umm, it felt a little forced. And though Anne Hathaway is a good actress, I don’t know if she can pull off sultry Catwoman. But I had those fears about Christian Bale being Batman too, and he was pretty good as the bat.

Having said that, I don’t think Bane is a good main villain. Everyone knows he’s never really the brains of the operation.

  17. Vincent K. says:

I got to see a Sneak Peek of the Prologue last Tuesday and it’s AWESOME! After it, they showed a montage of shots, some that wound up in this trailer and some that didn’t… LOOKS AWESOME.

  18. Navid says:

That. Was. AWESOME. I could watch Bane walk around in that awesome coat all day.

  19. Steve says:

When I look at the trailer for a movie I want to be left with a sense of “WOW, I totally can’t wait to see that!” Instead I was left with, “Looks cool but what the hell did I just watch?” The first trailer was better, this one was a very meh…

  20. Justin says:

My jaw literally dropped at the football field. Wasn’t expecting that. Figured he’d just be blowing up the audience or something
