Platinum Games is developing a game based on The Legend of Korra, according to IGN. The Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance studio is targeting a fall release for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One character action game which has immediately jumped to the top of my “must play” list.
IGN released watermarked screenshots from the downloadable game, promising hands-on impressions in the near future, but the details they’ve revealed so far sound intriguing. Series writer Tim Hendrick is responsible for the script which will see heroine Korra facing off against anti-Benders in this bridge between the second and third seasons of the Nickelodeon animated series. Season three will kick off on June 27.
The article also promise a 3v3 Pro Bending Arena, which could be interesting giving their previous online outing with Anarchy Reigns.
This isn’t the only Korra title in development: a turn-based strategy game featuring Korra and her friends is on the way to the 3DS from A Webfoot Technologies. They developed a series of GameBoy Advance-era Dragonball Z games and have largely kept busy with licensed games based on American Girl and the like in recent years.
A character action game featuring Korra from the studio that brought us one of the most mechanically perfect games of the last console generation – Bayonetta – could be a match made in heaven. The real question is how much time has been put into the project – as far as I know, Platinum isn’t a large studio, and with development on the Wii U-exclusive Bayonetta 2 wrapping up alongside current development of the recently-announced Scalebound, here’s hoping the studio has enough resources to give Korra the game she deserves.
Update: Malik weighs in.

don’t remember anyone being surprised about an atla game, and there’s like, what, 10 of those?
I DON’T EVEN CARE AS LONG AS THERE’S EQUALISTS and if it’s an online MMO like thing I would love to be able to play as an Equalist, or just see more into them, book 1 was my fave, and the equalists are my babies, they didn’t get as much air time as they should have in my opinion…
Nice shirt bro loot crate!! Just got mine today
This looks good but I wouldn’t mind an avatar game kind of like a fallout/skyrim-esque game where you create your own character, pick which element you are native to and it’s completely random when you start a new game if you are the avatar or not and it would have you traversing the 4 nations doing quests, discovering new locations and leveling up which would let you learn new bending techniques.
Not every game needs to be a huge-ass open world RPG.
Its going to be dop
*Dope as hell. if its anything like MGS rising/bayonetta then it’s certainly going to be a bloody good game.
Looking forward to it 🙂
I’m confused about what you mean by “bridge between 3rd and 4th seasons” — Korra is just now starting its 3rd season, as you noted in OP.
Korra season 1 was not Avatar season 4; they’re two separate series in the same universe. Did you mean to say that “it bridges the first and second season of LoK”?
He means when this comes out, season 3 will have concluded and it will continue forward from there, at least thats how I read it.
What are you on about? It’s to take place between books 2 and 3…who said anything about 3 & 4?
Actually read, just a typo. But still its something to be mildly excited about. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I assume that since the game won’t be out til next year, that @ that point, it WILL be the bridge between seasons 3 and 4…
Nope. It’s definitely Second and Third. Apologies as that was an error on our part
That fact that Webfoot is still around is way more surprising then Platinum working on a licensed game. Legacy of Goku was horrible and I don’t know how the sequels could have been any better despite hearing the contrary.
Trust me, the sequels more than made up for it.
Legacy of Goku II was one of the best games on the GBA in my opinion. I completely agree about the first game though. I remember getting to the end of the Frieza storyline and thinking the game was just beginning, and then it turned out to be the end.
Bloody hell that game was bad :/
That advence typo, though.
