A Fan Modded the SEINFELD Apartment into DOOM II

Doom II is an all-time classic game, but it’s not without its flaws. For example, at no point in the game can you observe, enter, or play within Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment from the seminal sitcom Seinfeld. Thankfully, a fan-made patch created by Doug Keener has brought this much-needed improvement to the game.

The update includes a totally ’90s PC game-style recreation of the classic Seinfeld bass score. On top of this, the details of the room itself are completely spot-on, or at least as perfect as an MS-DOS game allows, anyway. We couldn’t spot any hidden Supermans, but the decor, furniture, fridge, and various other rooms all seem very faithful to the source material.

The whole gang is there as well, taking form as NPC who kind of aimless wander around the environment and fire off classic lines from the show: “These pretzels are making me thirsty,” “He’s a re-gifter,” etc. Where things start to deviate from Seinfeld realism is when you’re able to actually bring the gameplay of Doom II into the mix, even at the expense of Jerry and co.

Despite that, Keener says the video is in no way an attempt to bash the show: “I am a massive fan of Seinfeld,” Keener writes in the video description. “The characters were put into the game as a bonus to add to the tribute. The only reason they are killable is because I wanted to keep it in traditional Doom fashion, because what is doom without violence and death?”

Keener put over 100 hours of work into this mod, so if you’re looking to experience it firsthand, details on how to do that are in the video’s description. Feel free to load up and ruin what was supposed to be the summer of George.
