We’re less than a month away from the Nintendo Switch, which means it’s time to start thinking about the franchises we want to see grace the new hardware. We already know that The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario are headed to the mobile/home console hybrid, but what about the forgotten franchises? It’s time to tell the Big N that we want more. Here are a few franchises we want to see on the Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Snap

A brand new Pokémon Snap would have been well-suited for the Wii U, especially considering the fact that the gamepad could have been used as a camera. But alas, the title never made a comeback (the virtual console version doesn’t count). Considering the mobility of the Switch, Pokémon Snap would also find itself right at home on the system. The only downside is that unlike the Wii U, the new console isn’t able to simultaneously project something on the television and the tablet.

Nevertheless, its weakness can become a strength. Imagine something similar to Pokémon Go, but with more depth. And instead of catching them all, you’d be tasked with taking pictures of the creatures. Let’s also not forget that a lot of folks had fun just taking pictures of Pokémon in silly locations. Let’s make it happen, Nintendo!

Metroid

Damn it, Nintendo. We’ve been over this a million times–give us a Metroid game already! A real one, that is. Yes, we technically got a Metroid game on the 3DS last year in the form of Metroid Federation Force, but it only felt like a Metroid game in name. Federation Force was devoid of the grit, gameplay, and atmosphere that turned Samus Aran into a bounty hunting star.

We don’t necessarily want a brand new Prime game, but something in that vein would be unbelievably appreciated. All I want is a vast world(s) to explore via the Metroidvania style, with some memorable boss fights. Is that too much to ask for?

Advance Wars

Turn-based tactics games work really well on mobile devices; just look at the recent Fire Emblem games on the 3DS (and now phones). With the Switch able to go into full mobile mode with ease, Advance Wars makes a whole lot of sense, especially because mission structures makes it easy to consume in snippets. Nintendo could also have a sleeper hit on their hands just like Fire Emblem. Most thought that franchise would never make a comeback, but that changed rather quickly with only a few titles.

Advance Wars would also be an easy sell to Fire Emblem fans thirsting for more tactics-based fun.

Super Mario Galaxy

This is a no-brainer. Super Mario Galaxy 3 is what most Nintendo fans have been waiting for. Mario Odyssey looks brilliant, but the Galaxy franchise has a charm to it that has yet to be matched by other Mario titles. I was personally distraught that a third installment wasn’t released on the Wii U. With the Joy-Con being able to replicate what the Wii-motes did, this would be a perfect time to make it happen.

Plus, who doesn’t believe that Nintendo could find some fun use for the HD rumble? Imagine being able to milk Yohi! Okay, maybe don’t.

Nintendogs

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been five years since this little franchise last made an appearance. I can hear you guys scoffing already, but take a second to think about how great this would be on the Switch. It’s not really a game you need to invest countless hours in; rather, it’s a fun time-killer at worst, and a new friendship at best. It’s the Tamagotchi of the future.

It’s also a great pet simulator for those who are always on the go. The Switch has a touchscreen, so it would be easy to replicate and enhance some of the gameplay features seen on the DS and 3DS iterations of Nintendogs. This would be an easy win for Nintendo.

Brain Age

For our final pick, another DS favorite: Brain Age. Initially marketed as a brain-training tool, this franchise had a certain charm that just can’t be matched by experiences in the same genre. Ironically, Nintendo wouldn’t need to overthink this one because it wouldn’t need to be anything other than a collection of interesting puzzles and brain teasers that can be picked up and put down at any given moment. Another time killer for sure, but lets not forget that many of the games we play on our phones every day share that quality.
