Now here’s an offer you can’t refuse. The announcement trailer for Mafia III has been released at Gamescom, pegging the game for a 2016 launch on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The cinematic reveal trailer is an interesting monologue delivered by the game’s protagonist, Lincoln Clay. Check it out for yourself at the top of the page, and then, let’s discuss!
“Family ain’t who you’re born with. It’s who you die for.”
That’s a hell of a quote, and quite the way to set the tone for the third Mafia outing. Developed by 2K Hangar 13, the game is taking us to 1968 New Orleans, a crime haven of sorts, where the Italian mob controls drugs, prostitution, illegal gambling, the corrupt law enforcement, and shady politicians. Lincoln Clay, a lad who was orphaned as a child, finds family within the city’s black mob when he grows older. In a wretched turn of events, Clay’s family is wiped out by the Italian mob, setting the stage for Mafia III as a sweeping story of revenge.
Though there isn’t any gameplay shown, the 3D rendering and facial animation for this trailer is quite impressive. I almost forgot that I was watching something that was computer animated for a slight second! Fingers crossed for the in-game engine looks as good as this trailer.
