1500 Water Balloons + 1 Trampoline = World’s Best Uncle

You have to give it to a guy who really just wants to be the coolest uncle his nephews could possible ask for. That’s exactly what was behind Mark Rober‘s recent physics experiment involving the kind of trampoline that makes all the other kids in the neighborhood jealous and 1500 water balloons. Take a second and watch the video we saw on Mental Floss above for some fun.

Rober is a former NASA engineer who has made news before for cool projects like wearable tech Halloween costumes. This particular experiment was more about fun and seeing what exactly a trampoline, a bunch of water balloons, and a slow motion camera would create… and I have to say, the results are pretty awesome. You can clearly see the joy that all the kids, and Rober himself, are feeling as they fill up all the balloons and bounce around with them. I wouldn’t even know where to find the mammoth water balloons that the group uses for special demonstrations of liquid physics, but they look really, really fun to bounce on. Here’s a few freeze frames just to remind you of how awesome it looked:

I’m clearly wishing that I had more time on my hands to fill up 1500 water balloons and set my nieces and nephews loose on them, but I think we will be relegated to some Slip-N-Slides this summer and maybe a few good natured water balloon fights. I am definitely going to invest in a set of those quick fill balloon pods though. Looks a lot easier than filling them one by one all afternoon.

What do you think? Did Rober win the prize for best uncle or is he going to have to come up with something even more fantastic than bouncing into a pile of water balloons on a trampoline? What could possibly top it? Tell us your ideas in the comments below.
