Alright, it’s almost here: the greatest gladiator match in the history of mankind. It’s Batman versus Superman, but we all already know who’s going to win…right?
From my research, fanboys and girls come down on two sides of this epic fight. Either Batman is going to win because he anticipates every possibility and prepares for it, or Superman is going to win because he could literally sneeze through Bruce Wayne. Superman is so overpowered, in fact, that I decided to come up with a dozen ways he could obliterate the bat almost instantaneously. Not that he will in Batman v Superman. But he could.
In my latest Because Science, I’m outlining some fun, sciencey ways Clark Kent could end the playboy billionaire. He could toss him upwards at 11 kilometers per second to make sure he escapes Earth’s gravity. He could hurl a whole planet at Bruce. Or he could just hold onto Batman until he died. Not the most noble way to go, but hey, it’s a battle.
None of this is going to happen though. There’s a logical stalemate at the heart of the match-up. Superman could annihilate Batman at any time, but he won’t. And Batman couldn’t ever beat Superman, but he will. Or not.
