10 Mistakes in the STAR WARS Prequels

Despite our unabashed love of everything Star Wars, we here at Nerdist.com occasionally find it difficult to not enjoy the schadenfreude involved in picking apart Episodes 1-3. Sure, we could sit here and talk about the aspects of the films that we loved and what they ultimately lend to the film series overall. We could talk about the hints or theories or even question how Anakin somehow built C-3PO with a tool that is clearly a wiffle ball scoop, but sometimes it’s just more fun to point out movie mistakes. Actually, lets touch on that wiffle ball scoop thing for a second:

A recent ScreenRant video points some mistakes out in the prequels that are hard to un-see and are frankly baffling when you consider the time and massive budgets that went into the films. Seeing some of these mistakes makes you wonder what could have caused them to slip by in such terrible fashion. Ones that involve messy CGI are sometimes unavoidable and happen when an animator is doing their best with the footage they’re given since it’s not in their power to call in the actors for a re-shoot to fix a framing mistake or an actor being a half second off their mark. Others seem the product of laziness by entire teams like Amidala’s extension cord that should have been caught in post, let alone in production.

It’s easy to crap on mistakes in movies, but we know we can’t fathom the massive amount of work involved, which might be why we find it so easy to criticize when simple mistakes become so glaring. The good news with the Star Wars prequel mistakes is that none of the flubs really have an effect on the story in any major way, so we can still separate the two and complain about the plots with a clear conscience.

What are your favorite Star Wars mistakes? Would you consider the first three films as entirely mistakes? Let us know in the comments below.
